CHA MUGEN KOTE - I am very happy that I managed to buy these great kote at a discount. They are light, and despite that they provide good protection. They provide decent maneuverability with the shinai even when they are new. I would recommend these kote to intermediate practitioners, they allow for fast action and perfect control of the grip over the shinai. The excellent craftsmanship is a reflection of Japanese precision and attention to detail. The MUGEN logo and brand are, as they say in the Czech Republic, the icing on the cake. The name of the product is a bit misleading. For my school, it's called Shinkage Ryu Bokuto (Not one of the Yagyu Shinkage Ry u branch). Very light and comfortable in hands.

Great compact backpack to fit all of your bogu. The zippers are well made and the material is durable so it should last many years. I especially like the lower zipper area where you can put your sweaty hakama and gi so it does not have to mix with other clean gear in the main compartment. Just make sure to take it out after practice when you get home!

Right after first use, I noticed how much lighter it was and how much better I could hear (compared to my very basic men). After a couple of months, I am still very satisfied, men is protective and molds well. At the beginning, it seemed to tie somewhat higher, than I'm used to (not to an extent of it falling off or something), but it adjusted with use. The hearing difference strikes me until this day.

If you're looking for a well balanced koban shinai (wasn't sure about the hakkaku at first, but I don't get anything else now), I haven't found a better value than this pack. Actually bought 6 packs for me and other kenshis from my dojo. Pretty low price really for such great quality too. The grip is quite thick, it is indeed dobari.

This is a premium bogu set made with quality and precision. The fit is excellent for my young kendo student and will last for many years to come.

I've always used Koban shinai, and switched to Kakkaku koban because I needed something thicker for better grip. So Toukon Bessaku has been my favorite for 3 years now, but I tried this one Higo , and wow! Just a bit thicker on the handle, but the balance is really dobari/jissengata, feels so light! But also I could see how flexible the bamboo is when putting the tsukagawa myself (don't do the same, order it fitted!), it flexed but did not break. I could further notice during keiko how exceptionally flexible it is (makes a nice sound on hits ;) )
