All Japan Budogu

ZEN (禅) was born from the result of careful research on Kendo form and movement, while taking functionality into consideration.

*Care instructions: Hand wash only, in clean cold water.

Please note - This product is dyed using genuine Japanese Aizome, and the colour will leak/stain objects, and the wearer. It is recommended that the product is washed by hand, to remove as much excess dye as possible before use. 100% Cotton, may shrink slightly after washing.

IMPORTANT: The ZEN series uniforms are depending on sizes MADE TO ORDER and no corners are cut in their production. As each garment is made dilegently in Japan, and due to the massive popularity of the ZEN brand, production can take 8 to 12 weeks.

※Please note that embroidery option may add up to 2 weeks to the lead time.

Size chart for kendogi:

*Caution: Be aware that the numbers in the size chart are regular measurements, but there may be slight stitching errors. The fabric might expand and contract a bit. If using a washing machine, use a laundry net to avoid damage. We can't accept returns or exchanges if the product has been washed or used for more than just trying it on. Please note that the product photos may differ slightly from the actual item.

Good jacket

This is a fine, neatly done training jacket. Some warned about sleeve length, but this hasn’t been an issue for me.

my second first Kendo Dogi

I bought this dogi together with a Dogi Zen - Gihosaku Jissengata (double layer). I washed bouth dogis together about 10 to 12 times in cold/lukewarm water. Finally I washed them with an addin of ricevinagre and a bit of salt which reduced the staining od colour considerably.

Both dogis experienced a bit of shrinkage, but not too much. After washing, both dogis showed the same shrinkage in length and width and these measures corresponds to the measures given on the size table minus some shrinkage. Before I ordered the dogis, Zen Nihon Budogu provided a size table with the information that the same size table applies to both dogis.

Sadly the sleeve length of the Zen - Kiyoharusaku Single Layer in reality is much shorter as mentioned on the size table, not ca. 72 cm but ca. 62 cm. There is a difference of ca. 10 cm in sleeve length between both dogis. For me this is really a pitty. This situation for customers can easily be improved for future customers by the vendor by providing correct size tables for the products.

I did not use the Dogi for practice so far, but it seems to be extremely well made and has a very good touch and feel. I assume that I enjoy using it during practice despite the too short sleeves. My impression about quality of the clothing is excellent. I hope I can use it for a long time.
